As believers, we are constantly reminded of the importance of obedience through faith. Despite the confusing and contradictory nature of the ways of this world, our faith in Jesus should act as a guiding light, directing us towards the truth of the Word and God's eternal love for us. This is why it is so important that we do not listen to the fleeting temptations of this world. This is not our eternal home. What God has in store for us is so much greater than anything we could ever imagine.
When we choose to obey God, it is not merely an act of service to Him, but a means of nurturing our own spiritual growth and well-being. Through obedience, we align ourselves with His divine will and open ourselves up to the blessings and guidance that God has in store for us. It is through this obedience that we find peace, strength, and a sense of fulfillment that transcends the limitations of this world. Obeying God does not help Him, it helps us. However, God does not promise us that it will always be easy or always make sense to us, but He does promise that He will be with us every step of the way.
For three years, the 12 apostles followed Jesus, witnessing numerous miracles and listening to His many teachings. However, even after everything they had heard and seen they still struggled to believe when He rose from the grave. Thomas, one of the twelve disciples, went as far as to say that he needed to touch the wounds on Jesus' hands himself in order to truly believe that Jesus had risen from the dead. I was reading through the Gospel of Mark recently and discovered Jesus foretold his death and resurrection 3 times between chapters 8-10. Yes, 3 times! The apostles heard firsthand from Jesus what was going to happen and yet it was still beyond their capability to comprehend what actually happened. Life often presents us with situations that are beyond our comprehension, especially when it comes to understanding the ways of God. In these moments of uncertainty, it is natural to feel a sense of confusion or even doubt. However, it is important to remember that faith plays a crucial role in navigating through these periods of uncertainty. Faith allows us to trust in God's higher power and believe that there is a greater purpose behind the things we may not fully grasp.
While we may not always understand the reasons behind certain events or circumstances, having faith provides us with the strength and comfort to endure these challenges. It gives us the assurance that God's divine plan is at work, even if it is not immediately clear to us. Embracing the beauty of faith means surrendering to the unknown with a sense of peace and acceptance, knowing that we are guided and supported by something greater than ourselves. In this life, we are not supposed to have all the answers.
Therefore, let us embrace the call to obedience with faith, knowing that it is a path that leads us closer to God and to a deeper understanding of His purpose for our lives. In this journey of obedience, we discover that it is not about proving our worth to God, but about allowing His love and grace to transform us from within.
2 Corinthians 5: 6-10 "So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil."
